About This Project

Southern New Hampshire University Dining Hall

Hooksett, NH

Southern New Hampshire University had specific requirements when it comes to dual purpose spaces and kitchen/server flexibility. The private dining, located on the first floor, can be quickly and efficiently closed off for parties of up to 100 and is adjacent to a private patio. Onsite parking is provided to accommodate all ADA and staffing needs. Loading docks on the basement level are easily accessible for the multiple trucks that bring meals made at this facility to other locations.

The two grid systems used to define the first and second floors influence the dining hall as a whole. The juxtaposition of grids creates entrances and flow throughout the interior and exterior of the building. Large metal fins protrude from the ground and penetrate through the facility, highlighting the vestibules and controlling the building’s façade. There are also large expanses of curtain wall in the dining locations, which provide views of the main campus and surrounding woods.

Number of Seats: 600
Project SF: 50,000
